TIFT® and DID configurations
Clinical context
Audrey B. has a diagnosis of Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) and lives with 16 distinct configurations. She began TIFT® Trauma Integrating Flow Therapy (TIFT) in November 2025 and has completed 32 TIFT® sessions over the past ten months with Alice Masoni.
Audrey has given her full permission for her name, her testimonial, and the names of her configurations to be shared for clinical teaching and the further development of TIFT®.
Audrey’s testimonial
I want this experience to reach therapists and people living with DID who may recognise themselves in it, so they can perceive what became possible when my organisation was met as a whole.
“Therapy helps me understand two major elements: first, I understand better that I am a Whole; second, I understand better that I am a person like anyone else.”
“The more I am in the present, the less I suffer from flashbacks, because I understand that we are in 2026, that I am an adult, and that I have far more resources than when I went through those traumas.”
“The determined goal has a beginning and an end, and it belongs to the real present, not to a past replaying in a loop. By accomplishing it, we move toward the future.”
“Not all parts have the same perspective, but each brings a skill that helps achieve the goal. The parts carrying shame or distress understand that they have a place, that they are important, and that they are no longer isolated.”
“I understand that apparently contradictory feelings can coexist within one person. Enthusiasm and fear can both be present. This allows me to experience myself as a person like anyone else, capable of ambivalence without losing my wholeness.”
The evolution of the switches
I can now feel a switch approaching. I can slow what is happening and increasingly connect the emerging change of configuration to what was said or felt immediately beforehand. I can prepare for the change and adapt to it.
“By writing to my therapist every week 24 to 48 hours later, it reduces the feeling of isolation. It shows me that yes, I am still in the present... And as she very often says at the end of each message: ‘And it is magnificent.’”
The later feedback
“I went to exercise straight after the session, and it did me a lot of good, because I feel a clear reduction in dissociative episodes. During exercise, I had a few moments of depersonalisation and derealisation, but I notice that I am much more able to ground myself. I also notice that the regulation of my emotions and mood is much more stable than before.”
“I still have just as many blackouts with Emma. Samuel pointed out that nobody in the system knows what happens when she takes control.”
Emma and Samuel are two of Audrey’s 16 configurations. An earlier feedback was signed Elena and Emma; the later feedback was signed Elena.
